Abe Eishiro Memorial Museum displays the works of Eishiro Abe, a craftsman who was awarded the honor of being designated as a "Living National Treasure" due to his instrumental role in the preservation of the art of making unsized Washi silk paper. Visitors can have a chance to try making the paper yourself (Booking required).
The museum also exhibits the works of the artists who had close relations with him such as Yanagi Soetsu (or Yanagi Muneyoshi), Kawai Kanjiro, Hamada Shoji, Bernard Howell Leach, and Munakata Shiko.

  • 23 minutes from JR Matsue Station by the bus bound for Yakumo. Get off at Yakumo Bus stop, then transfer to the bus bound for Bessho. Get off at Bessho Bus stop (13 minutes bus ride).
