Asakusa Mokuba-kan Public Theater

Information
Asakusa Mokuba-kan is famous as being one of the permanently public theaters in Japan. The theater, opened in 1977, offers theatrical performances and dance performances including Chanbara (sword fighting performances) by different traveling theatrical companies each month. Every company has their repertoire and puts on a different play each day, but because the theater does not provide their program schedule, the audience does not know exactly what they play until just before the show begins.
