Hikiyama Float Exhibition Hall

Information
Hikiyama Float Exhibition Hall keeps and exhibits fourteen Hikiyama floats, which are used in Karatsu Kunichi Festival and play the main role in the festival. Over half of the floats were built in the Edo period (1603 – 1868). The floats are covered with Japanese paper, lacquered to harden, and plated with gold leaf, and look absolutely gorgeous. The shop in the exhibition hall sells original goods related to the festival as well as the specialties in Karatsu.
