Travel Guide - Kappabashi Dougu-gai (Kappabashi Kitchen Utensils Town)

InformationInformation

Kappabashi Dougu-gai is an unique shopping district with a proud history of over 100 years. It is known as "Kitchenware Town" since the one-kilometer long street there is lined up with more than 170 stores specialized in kitchenware such as tableware, kitchen utensils, restaurant-grade equipment, interior decorating goods, etc. These stores not only sell wholesale but also retail and attracts both professionals and the general public who are looking for useful gadgets. Items aren't particularly cheap, but some of them are very convincing and could make unusual Japanese souvenirs.
The most interesting things sold in Kappabashi Dougu-gai would be life-like plastic replicas of dishes and food products for display use. Whether you want a plate of spaghetti Bolognese complete with an upright fork, a lurid pizza, a colorful ice cream cone, a glass of beer, a variety of Sushi, or a bowl of Ramen... it is all there.

@lyssaslounge It is! You might also buy a „Baumkuchen“ machine at Tokyo‘s famous Kappabashi street a.k.a. the town’s kitchenware capital.
