Sometimes referred to as “Tokyo’s inner parlor”, Kinugawa Onsen Hot Spring has been extensively developed for tourism since 1970s, and became one of the most famous hot spring resorts in Japan. Nowadays, there are around 70 hot spring facilities in this area and more than 2 million tourists visit here each year.
Kinugawa Onsen Hot Spring has 300 years of history and it was once part of Nikko’s temple area, receiving day trips from Japanese lords (Daimyo) and priests.
