Lake Inawashiro-ko

Information

Lake Inawashiro-ko, 55.32 kilometers in diameter and 93.5 meters in depth, is the 4th largest lake in Japan. The clarity of the lake's water is also well-known. Since the lake is located on a plateau (514 meters high), fog often occurs here and it sometimes covers Aizu-Wakamatsu City.
The lake is a popular summer resort with several fine beaches. Many swans come to the lake in the winter. Pleasure boats and ferries operate from Nagahama, on the northwest side of the lake. At the northwest part of the lake, there is Tenkyo-kaku (national important cultural property).
