The park, which covers approximately 122,100 square meters, was completed after the World War II, and in February 2007 it was the first postwar park to be designated as a National Place of Scenic Beauty. The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony is held here on August 6th every year.
Within the park visitors will find many memorials and monuments such as the Cenotaph for the A-Bomb Victims. Also inside the park grounds are the Peace Memorial Museum, the Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims and the International Conference Center Hiroshima.
