Shaw Memorial Chapel (Shaw House Museum)

Information

It is the oldest church in Karuizawa built in 1895 by A.C. Shaw, a Canadian missionary who built the foundations of today's Karuizawa. The local people established a monument and a bust of Shaw here in 1903 as a tribute to the "Father of Karuizawa". Shaw's first villa in Karuizawa is reconstructed next to the chapel and now used as a museum called "Shaw House Museum".
