Tategasaki

Information
Tategasaki is a cape composed of a huge wall of rock, 70 meters in height and 600 meters in circumference. The rock jutting into the entrance of Nigishima Bay offers spectacular views of waves advancing into the Kumano Sea. The trail which leads to Tategasaki from the National Route 311 is an ideal place for hiking.
Tategasaki is also known as the landing place of Oama-no-Miko (Prince Oama, later became Emperor Tenmu) when he made an expedition from Hyuga (today's Miyazaki) to Yamato (today's Nara) according to the Nihon Shoki (The Chronicles of Japan).
