Tozen-ji Temple

Information
The particular Jizo, or guardian deity of children, in Tozen-ji Temple was the second one to be erected out of the Six Edo Jizo created by Jizo-bo Shogen of Fukagawa. These six Jizo were erected to guard the entrance of the old Edo Six Highways (Tokaido, Oshu-kaido, Koshu-kaido, Nakasendo, Mito-kaido and Chiba-kaido). The Jizo in Tozen-ji Temple was erected to protect the entrance of Oshu-kaido.
