Utsukushi-ga-hara Onsen Hot Spring, located on the foot of Utsukushi-ga-hara-kogen Highlands, has an historic and long-settled atmosphere. It is said that the hot spring dates from the 8th century and has been popular since then. Its hustle and bustle was recorded in ancient documents including Nihon Shoki (The Chronicles of Japan).
In addition to the variety of Ryokan inns, there is also a public bath facility called "Shiraito-no-Yu" for day-trippers in the district.
