Gyokudo Art Museum near Mitake-kobashi Bridge was built to commemorate Kawai Gyokudo, a master of modern Japanese-style painting who had always loved Okutama's nature since his youth.
You can enjoy lovely views of Tama-gawa River from the museum's Japanese style building with calm atmosphere surrounded by the ceder forests.

The museum is also famous for its Karesansui style Japanese rock garden which is rare in Tokyo.

  • March - November: 10:00 - 17:00 *admission until 30 minutes before closing
  • December - February: 10:00 - 16:30 *admission until 30 minutes before closing
