Information

Izumo-daijingu Shrine was founded in 702 to enshrine the god Okuninushi (Susanoo's son) and his wife Mihotsu-hime.
It is said that Okuninushi was invited from Izumo-taisha in Izumo Province (today's Shimane) and re-enshrined here.
The shrine's current Honden main hall was mended by Ashikaga Takauji in 1346, and the building is now designated as an important cultural property.
