Information

In both quality and quantity, the Japan Ukiyo-e Museum is one of the most prominent wood-block print museums in Japan.
The 10,000 piece collection includes calligraphy and wood-block printed books.
The museum also contains many historically valuable wood-block prints, ranging from the early examples of the Ukiyo-e art to contemporary woodblock prints.
These art works were collected by Sakai family spending 200 years.
The family was also a patron of the great Ukiyo-e master Utagawa Hiroshige (Ando Hiroshige).

  • 10:00 - 17:00 *admission until 30 minutes before closing

  • Mondays
  • December 28 - January 3

  • 7 minutes taxi ride from Matsumoto Station on the JR lines or Alpico Kotsu Kamikochi Line
  • 15 minutes walk from Oniwa Station on the Alpico Kotsu Kamikochi Line
