Joyama Park

Travel Guide - Joyama Park

Joyama Park located on the east side of Zenko-ji Temple is the oldest park in Nagano city.
The park was constructed in the Meiji Period (1868 - 1912) to celebrate the marriage of Crown Prince Yoshihito (later Emperor Taisho) and Princess Sadako (later Empress Teimei) in 1900.
There are some facilities such as Nagano City Joyama Zoo and Nagano Prefectural Shinano Art Museum in the park.

The park is also the best place to see cherry blossom in Nagano City and approximately 320 Yoshino cherry trees bloom here in full glory in April.
During the blossom season, Japanese tea stalls are set out and the park bustles with visitors.
the blossom can also be viewed at night.
