Kameyama Castle Ruins

Travel Guide - Kameyama Castle Ruins

Information

Kameyama Castle was built in 1590 by Okamoto Yoshikatsu, a Daimyo who was given Kameyama by Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
The castle was destroyed in the Meiji Period (1868 - 1912) according to the ordinance abolishing castles issued by the Meiji government.

The castle's fifteen-meter-high stone walls constructed in the Azuchi-Momoyama Period (1573 - 1603) and a part of fortifications in the Edo Period (1603 – 1868) are still remain.
The castle ruins is designated as a prefectural historic site.
