Information

Kyoto Museum of Traditional Crafts is located in the basement of Miyako-Messe event hall.
The museum offers 450 of craft works, educational videos and a small library that are all related to the Kyoto's craft traditions.
You can learn the making process of these crafts by watching craftsmen's demonstrations.
Maiko's dance performance is also held in the museum on Sundays.

The museum shop sells Japanese traditional craftworks.
Guidance available in English, Chinese and Korean.
If you want a break from temple visiting in Kyoto, it would be a good idea to pop in to the museum.

Opening Hours

  • 9:00 - 17:00 *admission until 30 minutes before closing
  • Maiko's dance performance: 14:00; 14:30; 15:00 *The performance is held on Sundays

Access / Public Transport

  • 8 minutes walk from Higashiyama Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway Tozai Line (T10)
  • 25 minutes from JR Kyoto Station by the #5 or #100 bus. Get off at Kyotokaikan Bijutsukan-mae Bus stop.
