Information

Located on the right-hand side of the castle grounds as you enter from downtown, the Matsumoto City Museum tells the story of the city from its beginnings.
The museum primarily narrates the local history of the area as well as the lives of its citizens.
The permanent exhibition includes sections such as "Matsumoto's Traditional Handicrafts" and "What kind of town is Matsumoto?" The museum is a space where you can learn about the city from the past to present.

  • 8:30 - 17:00 *admission until 30 minutes before closing

  • 15 minutes walk from Matsumoto Station on the JR lines or Alpico Kotsu Kamikochi Line
