As one of the three most famous hot springs in Japan, Sakakibara Onsen has been popular since ancient times.
In Makura-no-Soshi (Pillow Book) written by Sei Shonagon, a female writer and member of the Imperial court during the 10th century, the hot spring is referred to as “Nanakuri-no-yu”.
Iyama-jinja Shrine located at the canter of the hot spring area was founded in 927 and enshrines the god of hot spring.

  • 15 minutes from Sakakibara-Onsen-guchi Station on the Kintetsu Osaka Line by the bus bound for Tsu-eki.Get off at Sakakibara-guchi Bus stop.
  • 30 minutes bus ride from Hisai Station on the Kintetsu Nagoya Line by the bus bound for Sakakibara Onsen-guchi.Get off at Sakakibara-guchi Bus stop.
