Shingu Kumano-jinja Shrine was established in 1089.
Its Nagatoko Hall, 44 wooden columns stand on a long and wide hall with no wall, was a training center for monks.
The hall is now designated as a important cultural property.
The 30 meters tall giant gingko tree standing in front of the hall is 600 years old and designated as a Kitakata City's Natural monument.
At the shrine's treasure hall, about 80 of important cultural properties are exhibited.
