Information

Nita-toge Pass, the tourist Mecca of Unzen, is filled with the sight of 10,000 glorious pink Miyama-Kirishima, or Rhododendron kiusianum, in mid-May.
From the observation deck at the height of 1,080 meters, you can see Mt. Heisei-Shinzan, a lava dome which was created by Fugen-dake's eruption in 1990.
You can also go to Myoken-dake by Unzen Ropeway from here.

Access / Public Transport

  • 2 hours from JR Nagasaki Station the bus bound for Unzen. Get off at Shimatetsu Unzen-eigyosho Bus stop, then transfer to taxi (20 minutes taxi ride).
  • 100 minutes from JR Isahaya Station the bus bound for Unzen. Get off at Shimatetsu Unzen-eigyosho Bus stop, then transfer to taxi (20 minutes taxi ride).
